Livestock
Raising and marketing livestock, is a traditional source of livelihood in Paraguay. Paraguay´s vigorous livestock sector is responsible for the country´s high per capita production and consumption of meat and dairy goods. Endowed with plentiful grazing lands, Paraguay has vast potential for livestock development.
Cattle, mostly beef cattle, is found throughout the countryside. The Chaco region is best known for its contribution to cattle raising because of its lack of crops and its sprawling ranches.
Official government policy favors strong cattle development and exports.
Beef is exported in large quantities to other South American countries. The raw food product is also exported to North American countries like United States and Canada.
